If you need a welder, a bank, a caterer or a wedding venue in Wallis, there has not been one obvious place to look. We have started a directory, and it costs nothing to be in.
What is in it so far
Twelve businesses trading in Wallis, across banking, insurance, legal and real estate services, catering and food, trades, agriculture, and wedding and event venues. You can browse them by category.
Where the information came from
We compiled the opening twelve from the Wallis Chamber of Commerce public business directory. Every listing says so on its face and links to that source.
None of those businesses has checked its own entry yet, and each listing says that too. A fact we read somewhere and a fact the owner confirmed are not the same claim, and they should not look the same on the page. Once an owner confirms or corrects an entry, it is marked confirmed by the business and nothing we compile will overwrite it again.
What we deliberately left out
Two things, on purpose:
- Chamber members who are not in Wallis. The Chamber has members in Sealy, East Bernard, Bellville and Austin. They are the Chamber's members, not Wallis businesses, and a Wallis directory that lists Sealy firms is lying about the town.
- Anything we could only find through an aggregator. Search a town of 1,292 people on the big listing sites and you get Rosenberg and Sealy results caught by a radius search — one search returned a Houston store as a Wallis business. We are not going to publish a phone number we cannot trace to something we actually read.
Two we want and have not added yet: Dollar General on Commerce Street and City Food Mart. Both are almost certainly real. Both need somebody to ring them first.
Adding or correcting a listing
If your business is not here, tell us about it. If it is here and something is wrong — a phone number, the hours, the description — tell us that instead and we will fix it. If you would rather not be listed at all, say so and we will take it down. None of that costs anything.
Every submission is read by a person before it appears. Nothing publishes itself.
This will never be complete
We say so on the page and we will keep saying it. A business absent from this directory has simply not been added; that is a fact about our list, not about the town. The Chamber's directory covers its membership, and it is worth being in both.
Common Questions
- How do I get my Wallis business listed?
- Fill in the form on the directory page. It goes to American Legion Post 200, a person checks the details, and the listing appears once they have. Listing is free and there is nothing to join.
- Is the Wallis business directory free?
- Yes. There is no fee and no membership. Post 200 runs it as a service to the town. The Wallis Chamber of Commerce also keeps a directory of its own members, which is a separate thing and worth being in too.
- My business details are wrong. How do I fix them?
- Use the form on the directory page and say what should change. We will correct it and mark the listing as confirmed by you, after which it will not be overwritten. You can also ask to be removed entirely, at no charge.
- Why is a business missing from the Wallis directory?
- Because we have not found a public record of it, or it has not asked to be listed. The directory is not a complete list of everything trading in Wallis, and a business being absent says nothing about whether it exists.
