Brazos ISD: The Schools That Serve Wallis, Texas

Children in Wallis attend Brazos Independent School District, which is headquartered here in town.

The three campuses

• Brazos Elementary School — pre-kindergarten through grade 5
• Brazos Middle School — grades 6 through 8
• Brazos High School — grades 9 through 12

Roughly 859 students attend across the three.

Who the district serves

Brazos ISD covers Wallis, Orchard and parts of Rosenberg, spanning Austin and Fort Bend counties. For a district this size that is a wide catchment, and it is why the buses run as far as they do.

Why it is not called Wallis ISD

It was, once. Orchard ISD and Wallis ISD merged in the 1970s to form Wallis-Orchard ISD, and that district was renamed Brazos ISD in the late 1990s. People who grew up here still occasionally call it by the old name.
